Are you thinking about getting Mega 360 imaging for your boat? In that case it’s essential to make sure you have a compatible control unit that works with the Mega 360 transducer.

Unfortunately, many of the earlier generations of Humminbird fish finders are not compatible with Mega 360, and it’s important to know about this before you buy.

In this article we’ll walk you through all the Humminbird models that are currently compatible with Humminbird 360 imaging, in order to make it easier for you to determine what you need in order to run Mega 360 on your boat.

What units is Humminbird 360 compatible with?

Humminbird Mega 360 is compatible with all Humminbird fish finder units that have Mega plus imaging functionality. This includes all Apex units, Gen 2 and 3 Solix units, and Gen 3 and 4 Helix units that come with either Mega DI+ or Mega SI+. Unfortunately, this doesn’t include Gen 2 Helix units, or any Helix units that don’t have Mega plus imaging functionality.

Note that there is also an older version of Humminbird 360 which is non Mega, and which was discontinued by Humminbird after the launch of Mega 360 in 2018. In this article we’ll focus primarily on Mega 360 compatibility, since this is the only version currently sold by Humminbird, but for the sake of completeness we’ll also cover the units compatible with the original non Mega Humminbird 360 at the end of this article.

Which Humminbird Solix works with 360 imaging?

All generation 2 and 3 Solix units work with Mega 360. All of these units have Mega plus imaging functionality, which is a prerequisite for compatibility with Mega 360.

Will Mega 360 work with Gen 1 Solix units?

Mega 360 cannot be used directly with a generation 1 Solix unit, but if you use your Mega 360 with a generation 2 or 3 Solix, then you can network that unit with a generation 1 Solix unit via ethernet, and transfer the Mega 360 imaging data onto its screen that way.

What Helix models work with Mega 360?

All G3N or G4N Helix models that come with Mega SI+ or Mega DI+ work with Mega 360 imaging. So an easy way to check whether a specific Helix model is compatible with Mega 360 is to check whether it has Mega plus imaging. Unfortunately this excludes G2N Helix units, and any later generation models that don’t have Mega plus imaging capabilities.

Will Mega 360 work with Helix G2N units?

Mega 360 cannot be used directly with Helix G2N units, but Mega 360 imaging data can be networked from a compatible G3N or G4N Helix unit to a G2N Helix unit via ethernet. So basically, you have to get at least one compatible G3N or G4N Helix unit to run Mega 360 on your boat, but are then able to share the image across your other Helix units, even if they aren’t compatible.

Humminbird 360 non Mega compatibility

As mentioned above, there is an earlier version of Humminbird 360 that is non Mega, and that has been discontinued by Humminbird since 2019. The non Mega 360 is compatible with a different set of control units, most of which have also been discontinued.

However, since there are still many of these models in use, we decided to include them here, in case that’s what you are looking for.

Here is a list of units that are compatible with the non Mega 360 transducer:

  • Onix 8
  • Onix 10
  • 1198c SI
  • 998c HD SI
  • 998c SI
  • 898c HD SI
  • 898c SI
  • 798ci HD SI

Note that the non Mega 360 transducer is designed to connect with these compatible units via an ethernet cable, while the current Mega 360 transducer connects to compatible units via a transducer cable.
