Experience
Robert’s love for fishing began during his childhood in Minnesota, where he spent all of his free time fishing on local lakes. He was born into a fishing family, and learned the art of fishing from his grandfather.
Growing up near Leech Lake, Robert Ceran started his fishing career by targeting local Walleye, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Crappie, Bluegill and Largemouth Bass, and later expanded his interests to the pursuit of Trout, Salmon, and Steelhead a little further afield.
As his passion for fishing grew, Ceran began experimenting with many different fishing techniques, and when he combined the wealth of experience resulting from this experimentation with his love for writing, this opened the door to a successful career as a fishing writer.
Over the years, Robert has written countless articles based on his expertise in fishing techniques and tackle, plus detailed strategies for targeting a range of different fish species in both saltwater and freshwater.
In addition to his writing, Robert loves teaching the art of fishing to anyone who’s interested, and regularly hosts fishing workshops to share his knowledge and passion with fellow anglers. His dedication to the sport of fishing, and his willingness to help others, have earned Robert many loyal readers and friends over the years.
Robert currently lives in Palm Harbor with his family, where he has a predilection for targeting Redfish, Snook, Bluefish and Tarpon in the ocean, as well as Largemouth Bass, Peacock Bass and Panfish in local Florida lakes.
Expertise
Throughout his life-long fishing journey, Robert has honed his expertise in several key fishing techniques, including jigging, trolling, ice fishing, ultralight fishing, bobber fishing, throwing a wide range of lures (ranging from micro jigs to chatterbaits and oversized glide baits), as well as continuously tuning and improving his favorite fishing rigs.
Robert’s fascination with fishing gear has also led him to become a connoisseur of the different types of fishing reels and how they can help to catch more fish, as well as an authority in selecting the perfect fishing rod for any situation.
But perhaps more than anything else, Robert is an expert in fishing electronics, and in his articles he loves to cover the most advanced Garmin, Lowrance, Humminbird, MarCum and Vexilar fish finder technology.
If you ever get a chance to talk to Robert, you’ll quickly discover that he is a live sonar evangelist, and fervidly influences anglers everywhere to use live sonar to visualize their target species in real time.
